Virender Sehwag's 'Zindabhaag' post goes viral as Pakistan face stern challenge to qualify for WC SF

Pakistan's chances to play the CWC 2023 semis are almost over after New Zealand's dominant five-wicket win over Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

With the 2023 ODI World Cup inching towards its final stage, India, South Africa and Australia have already made it to the semis of the tournament whereas, New Zealand is  predicted to become the fourth team that will make it to the knockouts. On the other hand, Pakistan is also in the race to qualify for the tournament semis, if they beat England by over 275 runs or chase down the given target in 2.3 overs. The task is almost impossible for Pakistan, which has made the Kiwis the red-hot favourites to qualify for the CWC 2023 semis.

  • Pakistan will play against England on November 11 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata 
  • New Zealand might face India if they make it to the semi-finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup

Virender Sehwag tears into Pakistan after New Zealand thrash Sri Lanka 

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has taken a heavy dig at Pakistan after they are almost knocked out from the 2023 ODI World Cup. Sehwag while writing on his official ‘X’ handle wrote:

Will New Zealand face India in the CWC 2023 semi-finals? 

New Zealand was unbeaten along with Team India until they faced a five-wicket defeat from the hosts in Dharamsala. Since then, the Kiwis have lost four consecutive matches in the tournament and at one point, it looked like they will be eliminated from the competition. However, the Kiwis have the highest chance to play India in the first semi-final of the tournament.

India lost to New Zealand in the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-finals after playing brilliant cricket throughout the tournament. If the India vs New Zealand encounter is confirmed in the CWC 2023 semis, both the teams will be the favourites to win the match. At one end, India have dominated in every match of the tournament whereas New Zealand have played the finals of previous two editions of the competition. The semifinal race will certainly become exciting as the tournament reaches the end of the tournament.
