World Cup: Team India crushed defending champions England in Lucknow

It had looked like the England bowlers are finally up onto their heels as the Indian top order failed to perform. The likes of Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer couldn't get the job done but it was Rohit Sharma who stood tall in front of the Three Lions bowling lineup. The Indian skipper's valiant 87 helped the home side to post a competitive total of 229. Jasprit Bumrah again inflicted a batting collapse as India's star pacer showed why he is regarded as one of the very best in the business.

The Mumbai Indians pacer removed England batters Dawid Malan and Joe Root in successive balls and the English side couldn't really recover from the damage. Former Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram showered praises on Jasprit Bumrah, claiming that the Indian pacer is the best bowler in the world currently.

IND vs ENG: Wasim Akram terms Indian fast bowler as best in the world

Speaking on A Sports Wasim Akram said, “He is the best in the world right now. Top of the ladder! The way he is performing The control, the pace, the variations, just a complete bowler. A treat to watch. With the new ball, to get this kind of movement on this kind of pitch … pace, carry, follow-through… you name it he’s a complete bowler.

“When Jasprit Bumrah is bowling to a left-hander from around the wicket and hits the ball on the seam… And when he’s bowling from wide of the crease, the batter will think the ball is coming inside. He will try to play for that angle, but the ball hits the surface and will divert towards outside instead of coming in.

"Most of the time, you are going to be beaten. When I used to bowl outswingers like that to right-handed batters with the new ball, I also used the similar seam positions for a left hand bowler. But Jasprit Bumrah definitely has better control with the new ball than myself.”
