Team India has made a confident start in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, winning all three of its matches so far. As the conditions at the Nassau County International Stadium are not conducive to batting, batters are having a hard time scoring runs. The condition has not even spared Virat Kohli, who has been able to accumulate just 5 runs after 3 matches. However, with the impact that Kohli has made over the years in the format, Team India is least bothered about the form of Kohli.
Virat Kohli has been in terrific form all season. The India batter compounded a total of 741 runs playing for RCB in IPL 2024. He won the Orange Cap and his consistency was seen as a positive sign for India ahead of the start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Fast forward to the third week of June and Virat Kohli is yearning for runs. The prolific run-scorer has been dismissed at the scores of 1, 4, and 0 in the three matches that India have played till now in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Despite not being among the leading run-scorers, which comes as a rarity in the case of Virat Kohli, the team is seemingly not concerned apparently due to the same reason.
Shivam Dube, who played a crucial knock of 31 runs against the USA the other day in the Group A match, was asked to express his thoughts on Virat Kohli failing miserably in the matches so far. Dube gave a humbling reply stating that he is no one to comment on Virat Kohli, and him not scoring runs may turn out to be ominous for the upcoming opponents.
“Who am I to talk about Kohli? If he hasn't got runs in three games, he may well get three hundreds in the next three and there will be no more discussions. We all know his game and how he plays,” he said on Thursday.
