Yashasvi Jaiswal hasn't taken a foot wrong since making his debut for India in the longest format of the game. The youngster has run-riot in a white jersey, and in a short span pilled up heaps of runs, so much so that he has broken the 51-year-old record of Sunil Gavaskar. After registering the most runs as an Indian batter in the first 10 matches, another milestone is in the sights of the youngster.

Yashasvi Jaiswal On The Verge of Leapfrogging Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid

Having scored 1217 runs in 20 innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal stands at the cusp of making history for India. Should he continue the onslaught in the upcoming series against New Zealand, he can reach even closer to the meteoric mark. Jaiswal has the opportunity to become the fastest Indian batsman to breach the 2000-run mark.

Currently, the record has joint owners. Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid, who went on to become two of the greatest Indian Test batters, reached the 2000 stage in 40 innings. Jaiswal, at the rate which he has amassed runs, could take fewer than 40 innings to complete the 2000 runs in Test cricket. If he manages to break the threshold then the forecast of India attaining the stature of greatness may acquire further solidarity.

Another Record Yashasvi Jaiswal Could Break

The India vs New Zealand series which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, may come as a further chance for Yashasvi Jaiswal to take a giant leap toward the target. As the series will take place at home, Jaiswal will have the onus of opening alongside Rohit Sharma and put runs on board. While six innings would not be enough to take him there at the mark, he could reach the monumental figure in Australia during the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Aside from modifying the Indian books, Jaiswal could also augment the world text. If he crosses the 2000-run mark, he might become the first batsman in the world to score 2000 runs in a single World Test Championship cycle.
