Liverpool signing Alexander Isak has been sidelined for an indefinite time due to the injury he picked up against Tottenham in their 1-2 victory. The Swedish international opened the scoreline for the Reds; however, soon after scoring the goal, Isak was seen going down after a challenge from Tottenham player Micky van de Ven. After some inspection from the Liverpool physio, the player was taken off the field and was replaced by Jeremie Frimpong.
The club recently confirmed that Alexander Isak had successfully undergone surgery on an ankle injury that included a fibula fracture. While the club did not mention when the player will return to the squad, Isak is expected to be sidelined for several months as he begins rehabilitation at the AXA Training Centre.
Liverpool Confirms Isak's Surgery
On December 22, Liverpool released a statement, confirming the severity of Isak's injury and shared that after his successful surgery, he will now focus on his rehab and work on his Anfield comeback.

The statement read, "Alexander Isak today successfully underwent surgery on the injury he sustained on Saturday. The Liverpool striker was injured in a challenge in the process of scoring the opening goal against Tottenham Hotspur and had to be substituted. After diagnosis, an operation was completed today on an ankle injury that included a fibula fracture. Isak's rehabilitation will now continue at the AXA Training Centre, with no timeframe yet placed on his return."

Another Setback For Alexander Isak
The Reds signed the Swedish player for a British record £125 million from Newcastle on deadline day in September. Thus, Isak joined the Anfield side without a proper pre-season, having spent a protracted summer training alone at his former club, Real Sociedad.
The player made his Liverpool debut in the Champions League victory against Atletico Madrid in mid-September and scored his first goal for the Reds against Southampton soon after. However, his fitness inconsistency limited his availability and limited his rhythm. This goal against Tottenham was his third goal in his 16 appearances for Arne Slot's side.
