The Brazilian Nation Football team had been struggling for a while with several factors affecting the team. It seems they have turned this around as Brazil defeated Colombia 2-1 in their World Cup qualifiers match. The star of the match was Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr as he scored an absolute screamer in the dying minutes of the match to get the Selecao the win. With the win against Colombia, Brazil moved into second place in the Qualifiers table and are now only behind defending FIFA World Cup champions Argentina.
Brazil went into the match with a lot riding on their shoulders as the past few results had not gone their way. With a loss today, Brazil would have succumbed to sixth place in the table. It was not to be so as it seems that Brazil head coach Dorival Jr has found the right combination or is certainly heading that way.
Brazil got an early lead against Colombia as Raphinha successfully converted a penalty to the men in yellow 1-0 in the sixth minute. It was a quiet game until the 41st minute when Colombia got a goal back thanks to Luis Diaz.
In the second half it was very evident that both teams were struggling with finishing until a moment of brilliance in the dying minutes of the match by Vinicius Jr. Vinicius let out a shot from distance which got Brazil their second goal and sealed the 2-1 win.
Brazil head coach Dorival Jr. following Brazil's win was over the moon. While speaking after the end of the match, he revealed that he believed him and his team are on the path to find that flow and that the Selecao will be looking to improve again and again.
“We’re feeling now that we are on a path. It’s not all ideal, but we will be improving every round,” said Brazil head coach Dorival Jr.
