UEFA Nations League: Young striker Rasmus Hojlund's lone goal helped Denmark seal a crucial 1-0 victory over Portugal in the UEFA Nations League clash at the Parken Stadium on March 21. The Manchester United striker was subbed in the 69th minute and soon after coming on the pitch, he led his side to an important victory. It was the 22-year-old's seventh goal for his national side. Meanwhile, Hojlund scored eight goals for Manchester United in the ongoing season.

In the 78th minute of the match, Hojlund made the breakthrough in the game. Eriksen made a stunning run on the right to beat the Portuguese defenders and found the young striker in the box who gave Denmark a lead in the game. After scoring, Hojlund copied his icon Cristiano Ronaldo's ‘siu’ to celebrate his goal, which gained a lot of attention from the fans. Many people also criticized the youngster for mocking Ronaldo.

It wasn't to mock CR7 or anything: Rasmus Hojlund

While speaking to Danish broadcaster TV2 after the game, Hojlund clarified that he hit the ‘siu’ celebration for his idol, Ronaldo. He added that scoring against Portugal was huge for him but the celebration was ambivalent.

"It's for my idol. It wasn't to mock him or anything. He's had such a huge impact on me and my football career. Maybe it's a bit ambivalent, but to score against him and Portugal, it's huge. I remember him scoring from a free kick in 2011 when I went to watch the match, and since then I've been a huge Cristiano fan," Hojlund said as quoted by ESPN.

On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo added another milestone. He appeared 218 times for Portugal, scoring 135 international goals. But against Denmark, the legendary footballer failed to make a mark in the game.
