'I Don't Like Teams Who're Scared': Manolo Marquez Blasts Indian Football Team After Loss vs Syria

Following India's 3-0 loss to Syria, manager Manolo Marquez has blasted his players for their lacklustre performance in the Intercontinental Cup.

The Indian Football Team was uninspiring, lacklustre and sluggish once again as they were hammered by Syria 3-0 in a humiliating defeat at the Intercontinental Cup 2024. This marked the second game under new manager Manolo Marquez and India are winless under Marquez. 

Manolo Marquez wasn't too pleased with how the Indian Football team played in their defeat to Syria and completely blast the players for their poor showing.

Manolo Marquez blasts Indian Football Team

Manolo Marquez was angry at how his side played against Syria and ripped apart the Indian Football Team for their lacklustre outing. The Indian Football Team were toothless and Manolo Marquez slammed his players saying they were too scared of Syria. 

“I am angry with the first half. I don't like teams that are scared. In the first half we were not brave. I am satisfied with the second half,” said an angry Manolo Marquez in his post match reaction.

India's horrible loss to Syria

Indian football team's hopes of winning the Intercontinental Cup title for the third time was dashed as it lost to Syria 0-3 in the last league match of the three-nation tournament here on Monday.

Mahmoud Al Aswad and Daleho Mohsen Irandust scored for Syria in the seventh and 77th minutes to break the hearts of the home crowd at the GMC Balayogi Athletics Stadium. While Pablo Sabbag's strike in the injury time was a mere underlining of Syria's dominance.

The result meant that Manolo Marquez began his stint as India head coach, after succeeding Igor Stimac, on a disappointing note. He was appointed at the helm of affairs in July.
