Inter Miami Stars Lionel Messi And Luis Suarez Fined By The MLS! Know Why The Players Have Come Under Scrutiny

Lionel Messi over the past couple of seasons is enjoying life in Miami since he joined MLS side Inter Miami. Lionel Messi has taken the league by storm and is quite easily the best player in the league. His former Barcelona teammates, the likes of Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets have also joined him in Miami. Now, on Tuesday, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez came under scrutiny with the MLS authorities as they have been imposed with fines following the Inter Miami vs New York City FC match. 

Lionel Messi Slapped With A Fine By The MLS 

During the MLS match between Inter Miami and New York City FC, Lionel Messi came under scrutiny with the league for placing his hand on the neck of an assistant coach of the New York City FC. Lionel Messi during the end of the match was walking back after receiving a yellow card for a verbal exchange that he was involved in with the match referee.

Following this, Lionel Messi had a few words with New York City FC's assistant coach Mehdi Ballouchy but he was interrupted by Inter Miami officials. As Messi started to walk away, he turned around and squeezed the back of Ballouchy's neck which surprised the assistant coach. 

Due to this, Lionel Messi has been slapped with a fine of an undisclosed amount by the MLS. 

Luis Suarez Also Fined BY The MLS

Former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez was also fined by the MLS for his actions during the New York City FC vs Inter Miami FC match. Luis Suarez broke the MLS's rule of hands to the face/head/neck of an opponent. This was a separate incident in the same match as Luis Suarez grabbed New York City FC defender Birk Risa by the back of the neck.

Luis Suarez had grabbed Risa by the neck during a tussle following the half time whistle.
