Renowned F1 Pundit Martin Brundle looked concerned over Lewis Hamilton's action after the FP2. After coming back to the garage, Hamilton walked towards the back of the garage with his yellow helmet on. It is an unusual act since drivers who are coming off an awkward collision normally do so. Brundle added that Lewis looked good with the Ferrari, but his actions of going to the back suggest it was not a good sign, and he would be frustrated with the first session.
Formula One is roaring back to life with the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit all set to feature ten teams with 20 cars on the grid. Two free practice races have taken place in Melbourne, and a proper glimpse of Lewis Hamilton in Red was seen on the tracks. The seven-time F1 champion has changed ships recently, and he is getting used to the new car with Scuderia Ferrari. Lewis looked competitive in the practice paces, but F1 pundit Martin Brundle looked worried about Lewis' post-race action.
“What alarmed me a little bit was that Lewis came out the back of the garage wearing his crash helmet. Which I never think is a good sign, having done that myself as well. I think he’ll be a little bit frustrated with that first session. He looked pretty good early on, but it depends if he had some issues, we’ll find out later,” Martin Brundle said, as quoted by talkSPORT.
After driving in both practice sessions, Lewis Hamilton gave his take on the SF-25 and said that the car felt different. He added that the FP2 was definitely good and that they are gradually getting better.
“It felt amazing to be in a Ferrari here. Honestly, the car felt so much different to what I’ve ever experienced coming to this track, so it took a little bit of bedding in through FP1. FP2 was definitely better but just building, we’re slowly building and getting a little better bit by bit,” Lewis Hamilton said.
At the FP2, Lewis Hamilton's teammate Charles Leclerc emerged as the fastest, with the two McLarens following him behind. Hamilton stood at the number five position. All the attention will come down on the race day on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
