McLaren Ready To Support Lando Norris As British Driver In Contention For World Championship
McLaren Team Principal Andreas Stella all but confirmed that McLaren are fully ready to support Lando Norris in his hunt for a World Championship.
Lando Norris and his McLaren have been having one hell of a season in Formula One so far as the orange team and it's driver have become the most dominant car on the grid and are the ones to beat for the other teams. On top of that they are closing down the gap to Red Bull and Max Verstappen in the Drivers and the Constructors World Championship. Another thing that has really helped McLaren and Lando Norris is the fall in performance of Red Bull.
McLaren have now all but confirmed that they are ready to back Lando Norris in his bid to win the World Championship.
Stella Ready To Back The Better Positioned Driver
McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella recently gave his opinions and views on the McLaren driver situation along with their hopes of getting a World Championship.
“We are fighting Max Verstappen, so I think if we want to give support to one driver, we definitely have to pick the one that is in the best position.
“And also Lando, he's been doing very well, like pole position in Zandvoort, pole position here [in Monza].
“If anything with Lando, we need to adjust some little racing things which may help him, and may help us capitalise on a pole position like we had here in Monza. I think if you look at his first lap, while we review it together, we might see that there were a couple of things that we could have done slightly better,” said Stella.
These claims by Stella all but confirm that McLaren are ready to support Lando Norris in his bid for a Championship.
Stella On Verstappen's Problems
Stella claimed that Max Verstappen is not only just good on the track but is also good with his talking as well as he is able to tackle questions from the media smartly.
“Max is good, even with his tongue. He’s not only good on track.
“Obviously he knows that the car he is driving at the moment seems to provide him with some challenges.
“But we need to be better at capitalising the opportunities that Red Bull at the moment seem to offer by not being in the usual possibility of competing for podiums,” said Stella commenting on Max Verstappen's problems with his Red Bull car.
