Babita Shares How Mahavir Phogat Backed Vinesh in Tough Times, Yet She Never Expressed Gratitude
Babita Phogat expressed her disappointment at Vinesh's lack of appreciation for Mahavir Phogat, who played a key role in her wrestling career.
One of the biggest controversies in the Paris Olympics was when Vinesh Phogar was disqualified from the competition. Ahead of her final round match, Vinesh weighed over the limit and she was out of the competition despite being assured of a medal. Her dreams were severely dashed, and appealing to the CAS did not work out either. Amid the turmoil, she quit wrestling and recently joined the realm of politics. Recently, Vinesh' cousin sister Babita has called her out for her lack of empathy and gratitude towards her coach and uncle Mahavir Phogat.

Babita Phogat Criticizes Vinesh for Showing No Empathy Towards Coach and Uncle Mahavir Phogat
During an appearance on Sushant Sinha's podcast, Babita Phogat expressed her dismay at Vinesh's lack of gratitude towards Mahavir Phogat, who had a pivotal part in her wrestling career after her father passed away. She pointed out that she never thanked her uncle for all the efforts in her development as a wrestler. She added that when Vinesh was eliminated from the Olympic final, she watched her father Mahavir crying.
"I have seen my father cry just three times in my life. First, when my sisters and I got married, Second, when my uncle died and third, when Vinesh got disqualified from the Olympics .
"These things need to be understood. I have seen how my father never allowed Vinesh to feel the absence of her father. When my uncle passed away, Vinesh, along with her brother and sister, left wrestling. My father went to their home, confronted their mother, and brought them back to the sport. Even when they didn't reach the training ground at 4 a.m., he would go to their house and bring them. When someone puts in so much hard work into training and never receives a thank you, it is understandably emotional for any coach," Babita Phogat said.
From a family whose surname has been synonymous with wrestling, the situation has been rather complex ever since Vinesh made her entry into politics. The Olympic disqualification put her in the spotlight, and she continues to make waves after her debut in politics.
