India had an incredible outing at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris as Avani Lekhara opened India's medal tally with a gold medal win. A rare moment was also witnessed when India had two podium spots, with Lekhara and Mona for the Women's 10m air rifle SH1 Event. Lekhara made history as she beat her record and clinched the coveted gold medal. India's solid campaign on Day 2 garnered enormous praise, and even Sachin Tendulkar could not contain his excitement after the India para-athletes' spectacular outing.

Sachin Tendulkar Extols India's Para Athletes' Medal Win in 2024 Paris Para-Games 

After India's medal-filled outing on Day 2 of the Paris Paralympics, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar applauds the para-athletes' stellar outing in the French Capital. Tendulkar hailed all the medalists, including Lekhara, Mona Agarwal, Preethi Pal and Manish Narwal.

"Gold in Tokyo, Gold in Paris! [Avani Lekhara], winning back-to-back gold medals in 10m air rifle shooting is nothing short of extraordinary. Your historic achievement as the first Indian woman to win three Paralympic medals only cements your legacy as a true champion.

"Huge congratulations to [Mona Agarwal] for hitting the mark with a bronze in the same event, and to [Manish Narwal] for securing in the men’s 10m air rifle shooting, following up his gold medal in Tokyo. Adding to our list of achievements, Preethi Pal deserves a special mention for a bronze in the 100m sprint. All your performances have made India beam with pride across multiple events," Tendulkar tweeted on 'X'.

Avani Lekhara made history after he became the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic gold medals with her victory in the women's 10m air rifle (SH1) event in the ongoing Paris Para Games. Lekhara shot a superb 249.7 to eclipse her own record of 249.6 set during the Tokyo Paralympics. The defending champion shot 625.8 to be placed second behind Iryna Shchetnik in order to qualify for the final round.

After Avani and Mona opened the medal tally for India, Manish Narwal clinched a silver in the 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1. Athletics' dominance was also on display as Preethi Pal secured a bronze medal in the women's 100m T35 final.
