Arshad Nadeem became the pride of Pakistan after he made an Olympic record and became Pakistan’s first ever athlete to win an Olympic gold medal in javelin throw. Arshad threw a monstrous throw of 92.97m in his second attempt which broke the Olympic record. The last two remaining podium steps were then made up by India’s Neeraj Chopra and Grenada’s Anderson Peters.

The win by Arshad also meant an end to Pakistan’s 32 year drought of an Olympic medal. Pakistan’s last Olympic medal came all the way back in 1992 at the Barcelona Olympics when the Pakistani team finished third.

This massive achievement is being celebrated by Pakistani fans all over the world and several notable Pakistani personalities took to social media to congratulate Nadeem. Pakistani batter Babar Azam was one of them but fans caught several errors in his tweet which led to Babar getting heavily trolled.

Babar Azam in his tweet wrote, “After 30 long years, the gold is back in Pakistan! Huge congratulations to @arshadnadeem29 for this incredible achievement. You've made the entire nation proud.”
