India’s Lakshya Sen will vie for the bronze medal after falling to defending Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the men’s singles semi-final at the Paris 2024 badminton tournament on Sunday. Competing at La Chapelle Arena, Sen, ranked 22nd in the world, lost to the world No. 2 Axelsen with scores of 22-20, 21-14 in a match that lasted 54 minutes.
The 22-year-old Sen still has a chance to become the first Indian badminton player to win an Olympic medal in the men’s event. He will face world No. 7 Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia in the bronze medal match on Monday, August 5.
