Paris Olympics 2024: Meet Aditi Ashok, The Youngest Golfer In The History Of The Summer Games

A total of 117 Indian athletes have been sent to the Paris Olympics. These athletes are also accompanied by 140 members in the support staff

Paris Olympics 2024: The Summer Games are returning to Paris after a gap of 100 odd years. With the biggest sporting carnival just few hours away from kickoff, the entire world's eyeballs are fixated on the French Capital. From unique opening ceremony to eco-friendly sports village, the Paris Olympics is peppered with innovative ides that put it in a different league altogether. A total of 117 Indian athletes are set to participate in the 33rd Summer Games and one of them is the youngest golfer in the history of the games.

Aditi Ashok And Her Quest For Olympic Glory

The 26-year-old, Bengaluru based athlete Aditi Ashok is the youngest golfer ever to compete in the Olympics. Ashok became a household name after she came extremely close to winning a medal for India in the Tokyo Olympics. The young Indian golfer missed out on the Olympic medal by a whisker but she had already made a name for himself. Ashok certainly will like to cross the final hurdle and win a medal for India.

Ashok has already proved her mettle in her sport by winning a silver medal at the Asian Games last year in Hangzhou. Aditi took up the sport at the tender age of five and the rest is history. She first won her state-level trophy at the age of 13 by emerging victorious in the Karnataka Junior and South Indian Junior Championships. Her consistency in the sport later helped her become the only Indian to feature at the Asian Youth Games in 2013, and at the Youth Olympics and the Asian Games in 2014.

Six months after turning a pro in 2016, Ashok scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman golfer at the Olympics and was the youngest contender. Still pretty fresh on the international circuit, Ashok finished  at the 41st position in the Rio Olympics out of 60 golfers. The Indian golfer then bettered her performance in the Tokyo Olympics but missed out on a medal as few last shots went wrong for her.

Team India's Mission Paris

India scripted history for themselves by winning a total of seven medals at the Tokyo Olympics. This time around, the Indian contingency is 117 athletes strong and is accompanied by 140 members of support staff. As India aspires to be a sporting nation, the athletes will certainly look to better their performances and win more medals for the country.
