'Preparing for Gold': Aman Sehrawat Sets Sights on the Top Prize After Bronze Medal Win at Paris

After coming off a historic campaign at the Paris Olympics, Aman Sehrawat is more pumped up than ever as he successfully clinched the bronze medal with his hard-fought effort in the freestyle boxing category. The Wrestler made the country proud after he bagged the sole medal for the wrestling contingent. Sehrawat isn't looking to stop, as he is already gearing up for the next big challenge in his budding wrestling career. He intends to change the colour of the medal and eyes to be a part of the next Olympics in Los Angeles.

Bronze Medalist Aman Sehrawat Eyes Top Spot at Upcoming 2028 Olympics in LA

Aman Sehrawat recently paid a visit to his hometown in Dighal village of Jhajjar, Haryana, where his bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics was celebrated with pomp and zeal. The Indian freestyle wrestler expressed his delight over the welcome he received and also revealed what his next big aim was: Sehrawat aimed to change the colour of the medal from bronze to gold.

"We are feeling very good as we are getting a warm welcome from the people here... I am preparing for gold in 2028..." Wrestler Aman Sehrawat said to ANI.

Freestyle Wrestler Sehrawat looked like a worthy opponent when he reached the semi-final and was in the hunt for the ultimate prize. But Japan's Rei Higuchi turned out superior one as he overwhelmed Sehrawat with a 10-0 win by technical superiority. But Aman Sehrawat still had a chance to win a medal as he was in line for the bronze medal match.

The 21-year-old Wrestler faced off against Puerto Rico's Darian Cruz in the bronze medal fight. While the Perto Rican dominated in the initial stages, Aman Sehrawat pulled off a stellar comeback to overthrow his opponent and take the lead. In a desperate attempt, Cruz tried to fight back but conceded a point, handing the entire advantage to Aman. Sehrawat pulled off a win with a 13-5 lead and clinched the coveted bronze medal in the Men's 57kg freestyle wrestling event. Aman Sehrawat is now India's seventh wrestler to win a medal at the Olympic Games.
