Tennessee coach Brian Callahan said Monday that linebacker Chance Campbell will miss this season after an MRI exam confirmed a torn ACL.

Campbell played 19 snaps on defense with another seven on special teams Sunday in a win over New Orleans to wrap up the preseason. Campbell was hurt on an incomplete pass late in the second quarter and walked to the locker room.

“We’ve taken two pretty significant hits at the linebacker spot with (Garret) Wallow and Chance, and then see (defensive tackle) Marlon (Davidson) with his bicep," Callahan said. "We’ve lost him. So, that’s kind of where we’re at.”

A shoulder injury also kept fourth-round pick Cedric Gray out of North Carolina from playing in any preseason games.

That makes inside linebacker a likely shopping spot for Tennessee, which went 3-0 in the preseason under Callahan, with the NFL deadline to be at 53 players on Tuesday afternoon. The Titans are seventh in line on the waiver claims wire after going 6-11 last season.

A sixth-round pick out of Mississippi in 2022, Campbell has played only four games in his NFL career because of knee injuries. Those games came in 2023, and that season ended a day after he was signed off the practice squad only to be hurt during pregame warmups in Tampa.
