UFC: Frankie Edgar ready to make bantamweight debut against Cory Sandhagen

Frankie Edgar is set to make his debut in the bantamweight division after having a great career in both the featherweight and lightweight divisions. According to latest American media reports, Cory Sandhagen is going to welcome Frankie Edgar in the 134 lbs division at the co-main event bout of January 25 card. Yes, the same night Cris Cyborg is making her Bellator debut. UFC and ESPN have confirmed the fight through their Twitter handle. It is also reported that both Frankie Edgar and Cory Sandhagen are done with their paperwork.

UFC: Frankie Edgar vs Cory Sandhagen

Frankie Edgar tried to get his hands on the featherweight title at UFC 240 but failed to secure the win against champion Max Holloway. Edgar has tasted the 155lbs tile during his reign in the lightweight division. His featherweight journey has also been sensational with victories against Yair Rodriguez, Jeremy Stephens and Cub Swanson. However, his last fight at 144 did not go well against Max Hollow and now the American fighter is officially leaving the featherweight division for his new journey in bantamweight with an MMA record of 22-7-1.

Corey Sandhagen, on the other hand, is one of the perfect men to welcome Edgar in the bantamweight division. Sandhagen is currently on a seven-win-streak, which includes his undefeated run in the UFC with 5-0. He accomplished three finishes from five matches played in UFC. Sandhagen got an impressive decision victory over Raphael Assuncao in his last fight. Currently, Sandhagen holds an MMA record of 12-1 as he heads towards Frankie Edgar.
