Huawei to release Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0 software in India next week

Huawei India will start rolling out EMUI 9.0 skin based on Android Pie operating system (OS) next week onwards. The over-the-air (OTA) update will be delivered to Huawei P20 Pro and  Huawei Nova 3 users in India

Huawei India will start rolling out EMUI 9.0 skin based on Android Pie operating system (OS) next week onwards. The over-the-air (OTA) update will be delivered to Huawei P20 Pro and Huawei Nova 3 users in India. EMUI 9.0 brings a new user interface (UI) and full-screen gestures. Huawei and Honor phones run EMUI custom skin out of the box.

EMUI supports up to 22 Indian languages, in addition to a customised Indian calendar. It also bundles apps like Paytm. EMUI 9.0's performance is claimed to be 12.9 per cent faster. Huawei also claims quicker app launch. Other features include gesture-based navigation, password vault, digital balance dashboard and more.

Huawei also introduced the "GPU Turbo 2.0" in EMUI 9.0, which happens to be the company's second-gen graphics processing acceleration technology.

Last month, Huawei started rolling out Android Pie global release for 7 devices including P20, P20 Pro and Honor 10. In India, Huawei P20 Pro and Huawei Nova 3 will be among the first batch of devices to receive EMUI 9.0 update.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Honor Magic 2 smartphones ship with the company's latest EMIUI 9 software out of the box. Hence, it was obvious that Huawei will eventually announce EMUI 9 rollout for Indian users.
