Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra leak suggests sleek design as company prepares for iPhone 16 Pro Max rival

Samsung’s flagship phones for 2024 are out, so the company has naturally moved to the next cycle: the Galaxy S25 series that will likely be out in 2025. While the South Korean company has not said anything yet about the upcoming Galaxy S flagship phones, the rumour mill is abuzz with information that shows Samsung’s renewed efforts to take on Apple . A new leak has revealed that the top model in the Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, will be the company’s slimmest flagship phone in the last five years.

A Chinese tipster who goes by UniverseIce on X has revealed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will measure 162.8x77.6x8.2mm. With a thickness of 8.2mm, the upcoming Ultra device will be the company’s slimmest phone of late – a proposition Samsung may use against the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max. Notably, the existing Galaxy S24 Ultra is 8.6mm thick, so a reduction in the thickness of 0.2mm may put Samsung ahead of its competition in the premium phone segment. Apple has yet to announce the iPhone 16 details, so while there is anticipation on what dimensions the Pro Max will likely have, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra could set a benchmark for upcoming flagship phones, including Apple’s 2025 crop of iPhones that is reported to include an iPhone 17 Slim.

However, the Samsung Galaxy S6 still holds the title of being the company’s slimmest phone with a thickness of 6.8mm. Launched around the same time, the iPhone 6 comes close with a thickness of 6.9mm.

Apart from its thin profile, the next Samsung Galaxy Ultra smartphone may not be a major upgrade over the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It may use the same titanium material on the sides, while the glass on the back and front may include Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. It may continue with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, along with an in-display fingerprint sensor and 45W fast charging for the battery.
