If you have a computer running Windows 7, then time has now come for you to be informed about making “informed choices” as security updates are all set to end from 14 January 2020. This means that you have only about 10 months left to take the next decisions.

Now, the 14 January 2020 deadline is officially applicable to users with computers driven by Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Without security updates, your computers in case still running Windows 7 SP1 may not resist against newer security threats.

Here, it is also worth noting that the 14 January 2020 date representing a decade of Microsoft seeding security updates (and other service related updates) to Windows 7. This means that the end of support is not too far away from now.

With Microsoft's Windows 7 almost reaching discontinuity period (aka end of life), the Redmond-based company is currently recommending users to shift to Windows 10 before January 2020.

“Microsoft made a commitment to provide 10 years of product support for Windows 7 when it was released on October 22, 2009. When this 10-year period ends, Microsoft will discontinue Windows 7 support so that we can focus our investment on supporting newer technologies and great new experiences,” state folks at Microsoft in its official support page.

Synchronizing with the above, you should also now be getting official notifications indicating the end of support of Windows 7. Do check out for custom reminders. Nonetheless, there is no need to panic as you are amongst a sizeable 37% users on the relatively older desktop operating system (OS) platform. You could choose to remain on the platform or shift to Windows 10 or even a rival OS.
