Xiaomi is ringing in the New Year 2019 on a highly positive note for buyers in India even as it announced a price cut almost across its entire range of smart Mi LED TVs. The price cut applies to both its first and second generation of Mi TVs, namely, the first-generation 32-inch Mi TV 4A, and the second-generation 32-inch Mi TV 4C Pro and 49-inch Mi TV 4A Pro. While the Mi TV 4A was launched in India in March 2018, the Mi TV 4C Pro and the Mi TV 4A Pro were launched in September 2018.

The 32-inch Mi TV 4A, which is the most affordable of the lot, gets even more affordable with a price cut of Rs 1,500 and will now be available for buying from Mi.com for as low as Rs 12,499. The 32-inch Mi TV 4C Pro, meanwhile, gets the maximum cut of Rs 2,000 and will now sell for as low as Rs 13,999 on Mi.com. The reason behind the Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 price cut on the 32-inch Mi TV 4A and Mi TV 4C Pro is the Government’s decision to reduce the GST on TVs up to 32-inch from 28% to 18%, according to Xiaomi.

In addition, the premiere 49-inch Mi TV 4A Pro, which is the most expensive of the lot here – but not as expensive as premiere competition -- will now be available for Rs 1,000 less for Rs 30,999 on Mi.com. The price cut on the 49-inch Mi TV 4A Pro is due to the recent Dollar moderation, according to Xiaomi.

“We are thrilled to share this wonderful news with our Mi Fans. Mi TVs have gained massive love and popularity among Mi Fans and customers in India. Redefining smart TV experience, Mi TVs deliver high quality with great specs comprising of the customized PatchWall which integrates the best of content. All of this is available to Mi Fans at a truly honest pricing with consistent, incredible experience across all Mi TV models. This eventually led us to become the number 1 smart TV brand in India with Mi TVs crossing over a million sales mark in merely nine months since their launch this year,” Raghu Reddy, head of categories and online sales, Xiaomi India, said while announcing the price cut.

Xiaomi Mi TVs have taken over the market by storm, something that is even corroborated by research firms like IDC and online retail platforms like Amazon India. Xiaomi was top smart TV brand in India in Q2 2018, as per data released by IDC. And Amazon India recently announced that Xiaomi’s 32-inch Mi TV 4C Pro was among the most popular products on its platform in 2018.

A lot of its success in India’s smart TV market stems from the way Xiaomi likes to price its products in the country. And, on Xiaomi’s guiding philosophy as a whole: to cap profit margins on hardware products at 5% and pass on the excess to buyers or Mi fans. The new price cut is indicative of all that and goes to show that Xiaomi isn’t taking things easy, and it would continue to find ways to make its products even more attractive to its buyers.
