Ever since OnePlus made the switch to an all-glass design with the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, speculation has been rife that future OnePlus devices may support wireless charging. Now that sister brand Oppo has joined the Wireless Power Consortium, it won’t be wrong to imagine that future OnePlus device could support Qi wireless charging. For real.

The OnePlus 7 may not do that because it would already have been in development for some time, but the OnePlus 7T may become the first OnePlus device to boast of wireless charging. Come to think of it, wireless charging won’t come as a surprise considering that OnePlus has already brought even more insane tech like an in-display fingerprint scanner and warp charge in recent devices. One would imagine that wireless charging would certainly fall in the easily achievable bracket. Even more so now that OnePlus isn’t restricting itself to a select price bracket, the way it did at one point of time. OnePlus devices have grown to become more expensive with each iteration, and therefore, it wouldn't be wrong to expect nothing but the best from the game.

As original as OnePlus devices are, they do tend to take some inspiration from OnePlus’ sister brands, aka Oppo and Vivo. Particularly Oppo. Now that Oppo is part of the Wireless Power Consortium, it won’t be long before the company comes out with its first wave of wireless charge-supporting devices. And OnePlus may follow suit soon enough.

OnePlus already borrows Oppo’s VOOC flash charging tech and uses it in its devices in the name of Warp charge tech (previously Dash charging) and very soon we may also see a OnePlus device being able to charge wirelessly.

The OnePlus 7 may not support wireless charging, but it may come with an all-new slider design like the Oppo Find X. A leaked photo has been doing the rounds of the Internet lately showing off the alleged OnePlus 7 placed next to what seems to be the OnePlus 6T for comparison purposes. The OnePlus 7, as per the image, does not have a forehead or a front-facing camera (regular or punch-hole) but the speaker grille juts out from the top. It is broader than the speaker grille found on the OnePlus 6T. All of this goes on to suggest the OnePlus 7 could be a slider phone although it isn’t known if it would follow a motorized setup like the one on the Oppo Find X or a manual setup like on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and Honor Magic 2. More details are awaited.
