Google is one of the largest tech giants of the world from Silicon Valley and is based out of Mountain View, California. It is known for its sister companies like Android and YouTube. Recently, Google unveiled its flagship lineup of smartphones for 2019, Google Pixel 4 and the Google Pixel 4 XL. The Pixel smartphones have been known for their cameras. Google’s Pixel lineup of smartphones is known among the tech masses to be the best offering by the California based tech giant. The cameras have been coupled with the pixel smartphones for exceptionally well performance in broad daylight as well as nighttime. Here are the key specifications of the Google Pixel 4’s camera:

  • Primary: 12.2Mp 1/2.55-inch sensor with 27mm-equivalent f/1.7 OIS lens
  • Tele-lens: 16Mp 1/3.6-inch sensor with 50mm-equivalent f/2.4 OIS lens
  • PDAF autofocus
  • Dual-LED flash
  • 4K video, 2160p@30fps, and 1080p full HD (default)
  • Video: Adaptive 30/60fps frame switching in 1080p default mode

Google’s Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL are the first pixel smartphones to feature a dual-camera setup. The Pixel 4 cameras managed to score an impressive rating of 112 on DxOMark. The cameras scored 117 points in the photography aspect, and 101 for the video side of technicalities. DxOMark, the renowned smartphone camera benchmarking and rating company, said that the cameras on the Pixel smartphones are some of the best amalgamations of hardware and software. They also added that the cameras on the Pixel smartphones also have the advantage of Google’s imaging technology and Artificial Intelligence. When compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 4 only managed to make an increase of 10 points in the ratings. Google Pixel 3 was rated with 102 points by DxOMark.

Before Pixel 4, Google implemented single-camera setups in all its flagship smartphone lineups. The cameras on the Pixel smartphones like Pixel 3 and Pixel 2 are still fierce competition for some of the bleeding camera technology out there. The camera technology implemented on the Pixel smartphones can do so much that many developers ported the pixel camera app for their specific devices and use it as their primary camera app. Since Google Pixel 4 is the latest offering from Google, fans are eager to see how well the Pixel camera can translate ratings this time.
