Realme announced a new, camera-centric U series at a launch event in New Delhi today. Realme U1 happens to be the company’s first smartphone to fall under this new series. The key highlight, this also happens to be the first smartphone to run on MediaTek’s Helio P70 chip clocked at 2.1GHz. This is a mid-range chip at the best which is fabricated using TSMC 12nm FinFet process.
Helio P70 is an octa-core chip with four Cortex A73 performance cores and four Cortex A53 efficiency cores. But we’ll be able to asses its real-world performance once we put it to tests. Inside is also a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU for graphics.
Realme U1 is claimed to outperform Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro and Honor 8X citing AnTuTu benchmark tests. The company brands Realme U1 as India’s Selfie Pro. it houses a 25MP (f/2.0) front-facing shooter for selfies and video calls. During the launch, Realme went on to compare Realme U1’s camera performance with Vivo V11 Pro, Xiaomi Mi A2 and Honor 8X.
Realme U1 can record slow-motion video. The feature will soon be available on Realme 2 Pro using software update. It houses 13MP + 13MP dual rear cameras. Realme U1 sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ screen with waterdrop notch, claiming 90.8 per cent screen-to-body ratio. Flipping the phone, we get a reflective design and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. It packs a 3500mAh battery.
Realme U1 will be available in three colour options: Ambitious Black, Brave Blue, Fiery Gold. The company also announced accessories for Realme U1 like Iconic Case in two colour options: Black and yellow. Realme also announced Realme Buds in-ear earphones. Both the accessories cost Rs 499.
Realme U1 starts at Rs 11,999 for 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and goes all the way up to Rs 14,999 for 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It'll be up for grabs starting December 5.
