If you are a Reliance Jio prepaid subscriber, do check if you have received notifications regarding the telco’s annual recharge scheme that is valid for a period of 365 days and offers 1.5GB LTE data per day. Here, it is worth noting that this scheme was announced a while ago, but the rollout of the scheme was phased. Now, it seems like the Jio 1-year prepaid plan is on a comparatively wider rollout path.

At this juncture, official notifications; through text messaging from Jio states that upon recharging for Rs 1699, prepaid subscribers should be able to indulge in unlimited voice calling. Data limit is set at 1.5GB per day; the overall data consumed over a 1-year period is set at 547.5GB. This scheme is also offering 100 text messages per day free of cost as well as complimentary subscription to Jio Apps. The entire plan is valid for 365 days.

Here, it is worth understanding that state-led telco BSNL also has a similar Rs 1699 365-days recharge scheme that offers free unlimited voice calling and data amounting to as much a 2GB per day; however, one limitation of this plan is that the data offered is 3G as BSNL is yet to officially rollout 4G services on mobile.

Hence, Jio subscribers could check out if the above initiatives from the telco are live and share thoughts/insights on the competitive pricing in the Indian telecom sector.  At this juncture, 5G is said to be the next workable standard as far as network connectivity is concerned. Also, the recent CES 2019 witnessed 5G modems, a 5G smartphone prototype from Samsung as well as commitment from electronics giants viz LG and Qualcomm with respect to strengthening the 5G ecosystem.
