There could be more foldable smartphones from Samsung, after the recent Galaxy Fold that was showcased at the recent Unpacked event. The newest Samsung foldable smartphones could even signify a new foldable smartphone series altogether.

Now, as per a Bloomberg report, folks at Samsung are currently said to be hard at work flexing their brains in developing newer foldable phones; with one of these devices even coming with a design that could offer a folding prototype allowing users to fold the handset towards the opposite direction. This report quotes sources familiar with developments at Samsung when it mentions that there would be more than one smartphone from Samsung following the foldable design mechanism.

At this point in time, it is not clear as to when Samsung would launch the purported new foldable handsets; there are possibilities that these could see the light of day in 2019 considering the fact that brands like Huawei have also unveiled foldable smartphones that would be commercially available rather than being restricted to just another prototype. In this situation, the key technical specifications of the rumoured new foldable smartphones from Samsung may also potentially surface.

With foldable smartphones being the focal point, the Samsung Galaxy Fold handset which is currently official features key technical specifications such as:

  • 7.3 inch display
  • Android 9.0 (Pie) operating platform
  • 64-bit octa-core processor
  • 10MP front camera, and an 8MP RGB depth camera
  • 12MP telephoto camera  along with 12MP wide-angle camera  and 16MP ultra-wide camera
  • 12GB RAM
  • 512GB fixed internal storage
  • LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, and USB 3.1 connectivity

In related updates, concerning foldable smartphones, these new “aspects” could very well be the next trendsetters in the global consumer electronics space. In this context, even Motorola is rumoured to be launching smartphones following the foldable narrative. It would make sense for these handsets to see the light of day in 2019 considering the fact that the year has seemingly turned out to be the year of the advent of foldable phones.
