It's hardly been a month since we found ourselves in the year 2019, and now we are already in the last week of January. Time flies when a lot of things happen around us, especially in the world of technology and smartphones.

This week, we saw quite a few exciting headlines like Xiaomi's foldable phone, in addition to smartphones launches like Vivo Y89 and Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro 2019. We take a look at everything that happened in the mobile world this week (January 21-27).

Samsung Galaxy M-series launch next week

South Korean giant Samsung is all set to introduce the all-new Galaxy M smartphone series in India. Samsung is hosting a media event on January 28 where they are expected to take the wraps off the Galaxy M10 and M20 smartphones. At least one of the smartphones under Galaxy M series will feature ultra-wide angle camera. (Read more)

Xiaomi's foldable phone coming soon

In what could be the world's first double-folding phone, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is working on their foldable device. Xiaomi will showcase the device at the upcoming MWC 2019 in Barcelona next month. Folks over at Xiaomi are also teasing what appears to be a fully-functional prototype of the concept. (Read more)

Vivo Y89 now official

Folks over at Vivo launched their Y89 in China under the company's Y-series line-up. It features a 6.26-inch Full HD+ display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 626 octa-core chip, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, Adreno 506 GPU, Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0, 16MP + 2MP dual rear cameras, a 16MP selfie shooter and a 3,260mAh battery. Moto G7 series launching on February 7

Motorola is gearing to introduce the all-new Moto G7-series of phones soon. Moto G7-series is rumoured to bring four devices: Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Play and Moto G7 Power. Motorola is going to launch them all at a stand-alone keynote event in Brazil on February 7. (Read more)

Nokia phone launch at MWC 2019

Once again, HMD Global is set to introduce a new line of Nokia-brand phones at MWC 2019. The main attraction, of course, the company is expected to take the wraps off perhaps the world's first Penta-camera smartphone: Nokia 9. The company is hosting their media event on February 24 in Barcelona. (Read more)

Samsung launches Galaxy A9 Pro 2019

Samsung globally unveiled the Galaxy A9 Pro 2019, which in fact, is the rebranded Galaxy A8s that first announced in China. This one also happens to be their first punch-hole selfie camera phone ahead of the Galaxy S10 launch in San Francisco next month. The Galaxy A9 Pro 2019 also packs a triple rear camera setup. Xiaomi working on "Android Go" phone

Xiaomi is working on an entry-level Android Go smartphone that's most likely going to be known as the Redmi Go. As its name suggests, it will be an Android Go phone means three things. Meaning, it will be an entry-level phone offering a stock Android experience, and it will offer basic hardware specs. The launch could be imminent in the Philippines. (Read more)
