Zomato may soon deliver food orders by drone!

Restaurant discovery app Zomato could be planning to deliver food orders by drone in the future. In what could be an exciting news, Zomato has acquired TechEagle, an Indian drone-delivery startup for an undisclosed amount.

Restaurant discovery app Zomato could be planning to deliver food orders by drone in the future. In what could be an exciting news, Zomato has acquired TechEagle, an Indian drone-delivery startup for an undisclosed amount.

TechEagle is expected to help Zomato create an infrastructure where it can deliver food orders using a drone. It comes right after regulations enabled commercial usage of drones in India starting 1st December 2018.

Commenting on the acquisition, Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal, had this to say:

“We are currently at the early stage of aerial innovations and are taking baby steps towards building a tomorrow wherein users can expect a drone to deliver the food they ordered online.”

Goyal further said that drone-powered food deliveries are an inevitable part of the future, which is why it is going to be a significant area of investment for Zomato.

Founded in 2015, TechEagle is aimed at custom made drones that are capable of carrying up to 5 kg payloads. TechEagle was founded by IIT Kanpur alumni Vikram Singh Meena while he was studying in college.
