Twitter India on Monday appointed Manish Maheshwari as Managing Director (MD). Maheswari will report to Maya Hari, Twitter Vice President and Managing Director of Asia Pacific. He will handle Twitter India's integrated business strategy to maximise the company's audience and revenue growth. Maheshwari will take charge of his new position starting April 29. He will be based out of Twitter India's office in New Delhi.
"Manish is joining to lead our strategy and execution in India and accelerate audience and revenue growth in one of our top markets worldwide," said Hari.
"I feel incredibly honoured to be joining Twitter India at this exciting time. India's future is digital and full of possibilities. With our amazing teams across the country, I’m bullish about the positive impact that we can have on all elements of Indian society," Manish said.
Last year, Taranjeet Singh had stepped down as the India Country Director and Balaji Krish was given charge of leading the country's operations in the interim period. Now that Manish has joined as Twitter India MD, Krish will return to Twitter global headquarters in San Francisco to resume his role as Global Head of Revenue Strategy and Operations at Twitter.
Manish's appointment comes amid growing concerns over the spread of misinformation and fake news on various social networking platforms across the world, including India.
Manish graduated from Delhi University’s Shri Ram College of Commerce and holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School. In the past, Manish worked at McKinsey, Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Intuit. Manish also headed Flipkart's Merchant Business and Seller Ecosystem. Prior to joining Twitter India, Manish was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Network18 Digital for 3 years.
