Japan Condemns North Korea After It Fires Barrage Of Ballistic Missiles Toward Its Eastern Waters

Tensions in the Korean Peninsula have increased in recent months. North Korea’s weapons testing, South Korea’s military exercises with the US, and Japan intensified. In the latest development in the cycle of tit-for-tat, North Korea launched suspected ballistic missiles into waters off its eastern coast. As per South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, North Korea fired 10 short-range ballistic missiles. Following the launch, Japan’s coast guard issued a maritime safety advisory. Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, on May 30, condemned the firing of missiles by North Korea. This occurs days after North Korea's failed attempt to launch a military reconnaissance satellite. North Korea hit back at international condemnation of its failed satellite launch. North Korean Supreme Leader Kim warned of “overwhelming actions” against South Korea.
