Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe was shot in Bogotá on Saturday, as confirmed by the government and his party. Local reports state he is in serious condition and receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. The 39-year-old senator, a presidential hopeful for the 2026 elections, belongs to the opposition Democratic Centre party, founded by former President Álvaro Uribe. Despite sharing a surname, the two are not related.
