'Iron Dome for Home': Anand Mahindra Shares Solution for Dengue as Cases Rise in Mumbai
Anand Mahindra shares viral video of mosquito-killing device, as dengue cases surge in Mumbai.
As dengue cases increase in Mumbai, Anand Mahindra, known for his social media presence, suggested a solution on X.
He shared a video of a unique mosquito-killing device, which he described as an "iron dome for your home".
The device, a compact laser-powered cannon created by a Chinese engineer, has gained viral attention over the past few months for its impressive ability to detect and eliminate mosquitoes.
The video shows a small-scale anti-missile defense system, seemingly adapted to combat mosquitoes instead. The device appeared to be equipped with a radar system, which detects mosquitoes in its vicinity, and a laser pointer that destroys them.
"With dengue on the rise in Mumbai, I’m trying to figure out how to acquire this miniature cannon, invented by a Chinese man, which can seek out and destroy mosquitoes! An Iron Dome for your Home," Anand wrote in the caption.

About the device:
The innovative device was the brainchild of a Chinese engineer who modified the radar of an electric car to detect insects. He then attached a powerful laser pointer to the radar, allowing it to target and destroy mosquitoes.
The engineer reportedly kept a "death note" of all the mosquitoes eliminated by his invention.
The resurgence of the video came at a time when Mumbai was experiencing a significant increase in mosquito-borne diseases. In the first two weeks of August alone, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported a sharp rise in cases of dengue, chikungunya, and leptospirosis compared to the previous months of June and July.
