Ratlam: A train derailment in Madhya Pradesh 's Ratlam led to chaos as people rushed to collect diesel leaking from the train.
On Thursday night, three wagons of a goods train carrying petroleum products derailed. Following the incident, videos surfaced showing several people collecting diesel that had dripped into a nearby drain.
The viral footage shows people using plastic containers to gather the water-mixed diesel to take home. Some clips even show railway and police officials nearby as the fuel is taken.
The video has garnered over 2.7 lakh views and sparked a debate. Some people defended the act, claiming it wasn't looting.
"It's not looting… loot would be taking it directly from the tanker. They're collecting it from the drains. Plus, they can't use it directly in their vehicles because of the water," a user remarked.
Another person said, "And then you wonder why India is so corrupt… looks like people just need a chance, and they will jump to loot."
"India mein free ki cheezon ke liye kuch bhi kar sakte hain," a third person said.
"It doesn't look like looting. They are preserving nature," a final comment read.
