Los Angeles: A man was killed after a Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LADOT) bus was hijacked early Wednesday morning. The incident took place near the intersection of 6th Street and South Alameda Street around 12:45 AM when the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) received several radio calls reporting a disturbance on the bus.

Initial footage from the scene showed one individual, believed to be the bus driver, being held hostage. Reports claimed that the driver was forced to drive at gunpoint before police were able to apprehend the suspect.

What Exactly Happened?

As LAPD officers approached to make contact, the suspect forced the bus driver to flee at gunpoint, igniting a dramatic hour-long pursuit through downtown Los Angeles. Police pursued the bus as it weaved through city streets, with officers working to de-escalate the situation and ensure the safety of passengers on board.

During the ordeal, a victim was shot. He was taken to a local hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries.

The LAPD successfully nabbed the suspect after the pursuit, but details regarding the motive behind the hijacking remain unclear. Officials are currently investigating the reason surrounding the incident.

This incident brings back memories of a similar event in March when an armed man hijacked a transit bus in downtown Los Angeles. In that case, the suspect took control of the bus, resulting in a collision with several vehicles and a hotel. At the time, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that only the driver was on board when the hijacker took over around 11:30 PM.

Officials at the spot continue to monitor the current situation. This is a breaking story, more details are awaited.
