Paris: France announced on Wednesday that it is deploying additional military resources to the Middle East in response to the Iranian threat. The move comes as Tehran launched a missile barrage against Israel, prompting France to call for a United Nations Security Council meeting later in the day.

"Committed to Israel’s security, France today mobilised its military resources in the Middle East to counter the Iranian threat," the French presidency said in a statement overnight after an emergency security cabinet meeting to discuss the regional escalation.

"The head of state also reiterated France’s demand that Hezbollah cease its terrorist actions against Israel and its population."

Meanwhile, Israel and the U.S. vowed to retaliate, raising concerns about the potential for a broader conflict.

Details on the specific military assets sent to the region were not provided, and the defense ministry was unavailable for immediate comment. According to the ministry, Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to coordinate diplomatic efforts.

On the eve of Rosh Hashanah(Israeli  New Year ), Israel was hit by a massive missile attack, with over 180 ballistic missiles launched from Iran with Sirens sounding across the country, but many of them were intercepted in joint efforts between Israeli defense forces, US agencies.

Several video footage showed defense systems intercepting missiles, with debris falling in various areas.
