In a significant escalation of tensions in the region, the Israeli military confirmed that Iran has fired missiles at Israel, prompting urgent warnings for citizens to shelter in place. This announcement follows a prior alert from a senior U.S. official, who indicated that Iran was preparing to “imminently” launch a ballistic missile attack on Israel. The official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, noted that the U.S. is actively supporting Israeli defensive preparations.

Israel Defense Spokesperson Daniel Hagari addressed the public, stating, "Dear citizens, a short time ago, missiles were launched from Iran towards the State of Israel. You are asked to remain vigilant and follow the Home Front Command's instructions precisely." The Home Front Command has issued life-saving instructions via mobile messages, urging residents to seek the nearest protected spaces immediately. "Upon hearing a siren, enter a protected space and remain there until further instructions are given," he added.

Heightened Security Measures Implemented

Hagari reassured citizens that the air defense system is fully operational and actively intercepting threats, but emphasized the need to adhere to official guidance. "However, the defense is not hermetic, and therefore it is essential to follow the Home Front Command's instructions."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also weighed in on the escalating situation, warning Iran that “there is nowhere in the Middle East Israel cannot reach.” This statement came shortly after an airstrike south of Beirut killed a leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, which is supported by Tehran.

In a related development, the Israeli military had earlier urged several southern Lebanese communities to evacuate amid a limited ground operation targeting Hezbollah. Following the recent deaths of its top commanders, Hezbollah's acting leader, Naim Kassem, vowed to continue fighting, asserting that the group is ready for battle.

The conflict has intensified since October 8, when Hamas fighters launched an assault into Israel, igniting the ongoing war in Gaza. Amid the turmoil, concerns grow for the families of the approximately 250 individuals abducted from Israel, as attention shifts from the hostages to the conflict with Hezbollah along the Lebanese border.

As the situation evolves, citizens are reminded to stay informed and prioritize their safety by following the instructions from the Home Front Command and IDF spokespersons.

Israel War Cabinet Member Benny Gantz Posted On X

In response to the heightened tensions, Israeli War Cabinet member Benny Gantz emphasized the country’s resolve, stating, “Iran crossed the border again. The State of Israel has capabilities that have been developed over the years to strike at Iran, and the government has full backing to act with strength and determination.”

He added, “It's either us or them, and the mission is clear: whoever attacks will be attacked and will be hurt.”
