A mass shooting at Young Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico, has left three people dead and 14 others injured, sending a shock wave across the city. The incident occurred on Friday night, shortly after 10 pm, when police were dispatched to the park following reports of multiple gunshot victims.
According to eyewitnesses, the scene was one of utter chaos, with people running for their lives as gunshots rang out. "Officers arrived and learned of multiple gunshot victims," said the Las Cruces Police Department in a statement. "Most were transported to local hospitals. Some were taken to the University Medical Center of El Paso." The victims' ages range from 16 to 36 years, with the deceased identified as two 19-year-old men and one 16-year-old boy.
The locals stated that the shooting at Young Park has sent shockwaves across the city. The park and surrounding roadways have been temporarily closed while investigators conduct their probe.
The Las Cruces Police Department has launched a thorough investigation into the shooting, with assistance from the FBI, ATF, New Mexico State Police, and the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office. "We are actively following leads and working to identify those responsible for this heinous crime," said authorities. While no arrests have been made, police have identified Gabriel Rickman as a suspect in the mass shooting.
