Five reluctant Chinese hitmen who subcontracted a murder to each other repeatedly, then failed to accomplish the task, has been sentenced to prison.

The contract killers kept transferring the contract to the other person, having a share of the contract for themselves each time. Every time they hoped that the person whom they are handing over the job will complete it. However, when the person at the lowest level with the lowest price received the order, he decided to fake the murder rather than going ahead with it. And he did it with the help of the intended victim.

The chain of assassins

The network of assassins got busted after the would-be target informed the police about it. The matter went to a court in Nanning which heard the story behind the dispute. The conflict sparked in the year 2013 when a businessman called Wei took legal action against a real estate developer named Qin Youhui. Qin was afraid that the court battle would prove heavy on his pockets, so he hired an assassin Xi Guangan to kill Wei and paid him two million yuan, reported international media.

Instead of doing it himself, Xi subcontracted the job to Mo Tianxiang for 50% of the price. Mo passed on the job to another assassin Yang Kangsheng, for 770,000 yuan, who later transferred it to Yang Guangsheng for 700,000 yuan. Guangsheng finally assigned the task to a fifth man, Ling Xiansi for 100,000 yuan which is just 5% of the actual amount offered to the first man.

Fifth assassin faked the murder

The last person who was hired felt that the amount was less and not worthy of possible life imprisonment which might be awarded to him if got caught. Ling then made up his mind to fake the murder and sought the Wei's help in the murder. Wei told the court that he met the hitman at a cafe and decided to pose for a fake photo that would show him dead. After the photo shoot, he went to the police station and informed the cops about the whole incident.

The five incompetent assassins were arrested along with the man who gave the contract and jailed last week. Their term ranged from two years and seven months to five years.
