Lorraine Kelly: 'Duke & Duchess of Sussex brought it upon themselves'

The Scottish TV presenter and Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) Lorraine Kelly has said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have occasionally brought criticism on themselves. In an interview with an international magazine, Kelly compared the criticisms against the couple to social media trolling faced by politicians, describing the abuse experienced by Meghan Markle in particular as “absolutely shocking”. Kelly further stated that bitter criticism was not entirely uncalled for. The TV presenter further stated that at times the Royal couple have brought it upon themselves.

Prince Harry and Meghan under tremendous pressure 

The Scottish TV presenter’s comments come after a documentary about Duke and Duchess of Sussex royal tour to southern Africa. Prince Harry and Meghan revealed that they are both under tremendous pressure and are struggling to cope with it. This is due to the intense scrutiny the couple have faced from the media.

Markle revealed that she was warned of British tabloids

In an interview for a documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle revealed that she was warned of British tabloids before her marriage to Harry. Speaking about the struggles of being a part of the Royal family, the Duchess said that the last year had been hard and that she had had no idea of what she would face. Speaking on the broadcast on October 20, Meghan said that she and her friends were really happy about her relationship with Harry in the beginning as she herself was very happy. Yet her British friends, on the other hand, warned her of the consequences of the marriage.

The media is 'into playing a game that killed my mum'

The Duchess further said at that time she was very naive and she couldn't comprehend the inference. Meghan announced that she is suing the alleged British tabloid over unlawfully publishing a private letter she sent to her estranged father, Thomas Markle. The same was reiterated by Harry who attacked the tabloids of the ruthless campaigns against Markle. Following his statement, it was alleged by Harry that two other tabloids are hacking his phone and that he is going to sue them as well. Harry told in the broadcasted interview that the media is “into playing a game that killed my mum (Princess Diana)”.
