Karachi: In another targeted killing in Pakistan, Qari Shahzada, a relative of notorious terrorist Hafeez Saeed and a key fundraiser for Lashkar-e-Taiba, was gunned down by unknown assailants in Karachi on Monday morning. The attackers fired upon Qari Shahzad, who was also the Vice President of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI-F), in Karachi's Khairabad area, when he was on his way to offer morning prayers at a local mosque. According to the regional media, the targeted killing is the latest in a series of attacks against JUI-F leaders, with at least five leaders killed in the past month alone.

Notably, Shahzada's killing is not an isolated incident, as in recent times, several terrorists have been eliminated by unknown gunmen, leaving many to wonder if a mysterious vigilante group is at work. The lack of claims of responsibility from any terrorist organisation has only added to the mystery.

Reportedly, another Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, Adnan Ahmed, was reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen in Karachi. Amidst the ongoing assassination threat on the existing active terrorists in Pakistan, the government, which is already facing financial struggles, is now faced with the daunting task of providing security to these terrorists.

In the meantime, there are claims that the Islamic State of Khorasan has claimed responsibility for most of the attacks against JUI-F leaders. However, sources suggest that these killings may be more than just terrorist attacks. The local media also alleged the Pakistan Army's involvement in these targeted killings, with some claiming that the army is silencing critics of its administration.

Ramadan Attacks Spark Outrage

Additionally, the timing of these attacks, during the holy month of Ramadan, has sparked outrage among the public. The fact that these leaders were killed while on their way to offer prayers has added to the sense of shock and horror. The Pakistan Army and security agencies have come under fire for their inability to prevent these attacks.

The political leaders in Pakistan have also raised questions over the killing of Qari Shahzad saying that it was a grim reminder of the violence and intimidation faced by critics of the Pakistan Army and administration.
