'They are real threat': Donald Trump Blames Biden, Harris 'Rhetoric' for Assassination Bids
Trump claimed Biden and Harris' inflammatory language was the reason behind his assassination attempt on Sunday.
Washington: Former President Donald Trump has once again blamed Democrats for the second assassination attempt against him, accusing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of inciting violence with their rhetoric. Speaking to Fox News Digital on Monday, Trump claimed their inflammatory language was the reason behind the attack, which occurred at Trump International in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday.
The Secret Service discovered the alleged gunman, Ryan Wesley Routh, with an AK-47-style rifle aimed through a fence on the golf course. He fled the scene but was later apprehended. Authorities are treating the incident as an attempted assassination.
Harris, Biden's 'Rhetoric' Causing Me Get Shot
This marks the second such attempt on Trump’s life since July. “He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it,” Trump told Fox News. “Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, while I am the one trying to save the country, and they are destroying it—both from within and without.”
Trump pointed to comments by Biden and Harris labeling him a "threat to democracy" while portraying themselves as "unity" leaders, a claim Trump vehemently rejected. He referred to them as "the real threat," accusing them of undermining the country.
The alleged gunman, Routh, who has a long history of encounters with law enforcement, has posted anti-Trump rhetoric on social media and expressed support for Democratic candidates. Trump said, "Dangerous fools, like the shooter, listen to their rhetoric and act on it."
Democrats, on the other hand, have frequently blamed Trump for inciting violence, particularly after the January 6 Capitol riot. Over the weekend, Biden said that a president should “reject hate” and not incite violence.
Trump further criticized Biden and Harris for policies he believes are "destroying" the country, particularly on immigration. He also took aim at the media, calling them biased and accusing them of protecting Democrats during debates and in coverage.
“The media is made up of fools who will spew Democrats’ garbage and protect them at all costs,” Trump said, also criticizing ABC News’ debate moderator David Muir for being “biased” during his recent debate with Harris.
