US Elections: Harris, Walz to Sit For 1st Joint Interview Tomorrow Since Launching Presidential Bid
Harris replaced President Biden and Walz will sit down for the 'unscripted' interview with CNN's Dana Bash on Thursday at 9:00 pm ET (6:30 am IST Friday)
Washington: Democrat Presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her Vice Presidential pick Tim Walz are all set for their first major television interview since they kicked off their presidential campaign ahead of the upcoming elections.
Harris replaced President Biden and Walz will sit down for the 'unscripted' interview with CNN's Dana Bash on Thursday at 9:00 pm ET (6:30 am IST Friday)
Confirming the news, CNN's political director David Cahlian said that this will be the first time that Harris is going to take questions in a concerted effort like this, in an interview format, since Joe Biden upended this entire race six weeks ago.
"This is the first time she’s going to take questions in a concerted effort like this, in an interview format, since Joe Biden upended this entire race six weeks ago," he said.
This interview is crucial for Harris as it will give her a chance to quell criticism that she has eschewed uncontrolled environments and a platform to define her campaign.
Furthermore, while Harris who has occasionally taken questions from the media, this unscripted conversation will also allow her to test her political mettler ahead of her debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump on September 10.
Reacting to the announcement, Trump's campaign slammed Harris and said, "She’s not competent enough to do it on her own."
This comes as Donald Trump has finally agreed to debate with Harris but with only on the condition of a 'closed microphone.'
In a post on social media, Trump said that the rules for the coming debate would be the same as those of CNN, where he clashed with Joe Biden, whose poor performance led him to quit the presidential race.
"The rules will be the same as the last CNN debate, which seemed to work out well for everyone except, perhaps, Crooked Joe Biden. The debate will be "stand up," and candidates cannot bring notes, or "cheat sheets." We have also been given assurance by ABC that this will be a "fair and equitable" debate and that neither side will be given the questions in advance (No Donna Brazile!)."
He added that a third debate has not been agreed upon by the Radical Left, saying, "Harris would not agree to the FoxNews debate on September 4th, but that date will be held open in case she changes her mind or, Flip Flops, as she has done on every single one of her long-held and cherished policy beliefs. A possible third debate, which would go to NBC FAKE NEWS, has not been agreed to by the Radical Left. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
