A Texas Whataburger outlet in Bastrop has resumed its operations where a disturbing video of a rat moving around the food preparation area went viral.

A Texas Whataburger outlet in Bastrop has resumed its operations where a disturbing video of a rat moving around the food prep area was uploaded by a social media user on August 31. Brushawn Lewis, a facebook user captured the entire footage and uploaded it on facebook. The video drew a lot of attention from the viewers who described the footage as disturbing.

Mouse scampers around the food prep area

In the Facebook video, the mouse can be seen scampering around the food prep area and the background voice of the customers can be heard, calling it 'nasty'. An employee of Whataburger also claimed that customers can avail of a full refund if they have the invoice with them. The mouse can be seen running away and trying to hide on the platform where the food is being prepared. It then jumped into the bubbling grease of the deep fryer which scared everyone. The scene took the customers to crack a joke about "deep-fried rat".

Lewis said in the Facebook video that till the time it's cooked it will float to the top as an employee tries to turn off the deep fryer. The video has gone viral and is being shared on social media platforms. The social media posts from people ended up calling the rodent as 'suicidal'. After the video was shared on social media platforms, memes flooded up from various corners of the world.

Focusing on the cleanliness: Whataburger

Later the food joint released a statement to the local TV news explaining that they have shut the operations of the particular area. They said that they are focusing on the cleanliness of the restaurant and notified pest control. They also mentioned that the entire restaurant has since been cleaned and sanitized. The restaurant also said that they have never faced problems like this before. They addressed the situation and apologized for the inconvenience caused to the customers. The current location at Bastrop has a rating of three stars while the Whataburger in Highland Village, Texas has a rating of just two stars.
