US lawmaker urges Congressional members to attend PM Modi's address

US lawmaker, Brad Sherman urged Congressional members to attend the PM Modi's address in Houston which is scheduled in September. Sends an invitation letter.

Brad Sherman, one of the top American lawmakers, has urged his colleagues in Congress to attend the address by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in Houston. He believes that everyone shall participate to welcome the Indian Prime Minister who is scheduled to visit the country later this month. Sherman is also the co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian-American. In a letter addressed to all the Congressmen, he informed about the event along with a formal invitation to the same.

Letter by Brad Sherman

In a letter dated August 23, Bred Sherman wrote: “As a co-Chair [of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian-Americans], I hope that you will participate in welcoming Prime Minister Modi to Houston”. According to the same letter, the members who will participate will also get a bit of airtime. The letter was the American lawmaker's way to invite and urge his colleagues to attend the event in Houston, called the “Howdy, Modi!”. There are approximately four million Indian Americans in their country and have made a notable contribution to the country. It is their responsibility to recognize them along with the deep security relationship which is shared between the US and India.

Prime Minister's address in Houston

The Indian Prime Minister will address the Americans from the reception at NRG Park. It is the same place where Houston Texas plays. Nearly 50,000 people will attend the address by PM Modi. The registrations were closed after the number crossed the 50 thousand mark. The event is also reportedly scheduled to be broadcasted to more than 300 million people. The address will also include a segment to honor the commendable work of human rights leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. According to the letter by Bred Sherman, all the members of the congress will be introduced to the Indian Prime Minister on the stage before the delivering of the address. This event will bring together thousands of Americans who share the values similar to the world's largest democracy.
