US relationship with India is critically important: Bob Menendez

A top US Senator Bob Menendez said on September 27 that India-US relationship is very important because it has made remarkable progress in the recent years. The US Senator Bob Menendez, Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that "We need to continue growing this relationship, one that will extend long beyond the tenures of leadership in either country." Menendez added ahead of his visit to India as part of a Congressional delegation that the relationship with India is critically important and it has made remarkable progress in recent years. He said it during a meeting with Indian-American community leaders from across New Jersey to discuss his responsibility for boosting the US-India relationship as well as his upcoming Congressional Delegation trip to the country.

Menendez: Trade relationship, defense relationship grown to a huge extent

The elected officials, medical professionals, entrepreneurs, civic activists, and religious leaders took part in the meeting. Menendez said the trade relationship, defense relationship and people to people ties have grown to a huge extent and are as strong as ever. During his trip, Menendez plans to conduct a couple of meetings with civil society, security and government bureaucrats in the country. He is expected to celebrate Gandhi's 150th birthday, pay tributes to the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks and meet with the clean energy partners to discuss eradicating the growing climate change crisis.

New Jersey is third-largest state with Indian American population

Around 300,000 Indian Americans account for the population of New Jersey making it the third-largest state with Indian American population just after California and New York. Indian-Americans also contributes the largest group of foreign-born residents in the state. Earlier, he has urged the Trump government to play an active role to promote peace and stability in South Asia following escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
