After Amul, Mother Dairy Increases Milk Price By ₹2 per Litre from May 14
Mother Dairy has raised milk prices by ₹2 per litre effective May 14, following a similar hike by Amul.
New Delhi: After Amul, Mother Dairy Increases Milk Price By ₹2 per Litre from May 14. The new milk prices will come into effect across Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand markets.
A spokesperson for Mother Dairy said,“Mother Dairy will revise the consumer prices of its liquid milk variants by Rs. 2 per litre, effective May 14, 2026. The revision has been necessitated in view of the sustained increase in farmer procurement prices, of around 6% over the past one year, despite continued efforts to limit the impact on consumers. This revision represents only a partial pass through of increased costs and is aimed at maintaining a fair balance between farmer welfare and consumer interests. It is pertinent to note that Mother Dairy passes on nearly 75 – 80% of its milk sales realisation towards farmers and milk procurement, thereby supporting their livelihoods while ensuring consistent availability of quality milk for consumers.”
Under the new pricing structure, Bulk Vended Milk (Token Milk) will now cost ₹58 per litre, up from ₹56, while Full Cream Milk and Pro Milk have been increased from ₹70 to ₹72 per litre. Toned Milk will now be available at ₹60 per litre instead of ₹58, Double Toned Milk (Live Lite) has gone up from ₹52 to ₹54 per litre, and Cow Milk will now cost ₹62 per litre compared to the earlier ₹60. The company stated that the hike was necessary due to rising procurement costs and increasing payments to farmers over the past year. The last price revision was undertaken in April 2025.
Why are milk prices rising?
Both Amul and Mother Dairy have cited growing procurement and operational costs as the primary reasons for the recent milk price increase. Higher calf feed costs, increased transportation charges, more expensive packaging materials, and higher prices paid to dairy farmers are considered to have played a substantial role in the change.
