No Early India-Pakistan Matches In Asian Games 2026, Set On Course For A Blockbuster Podium Battle: Report

An India vs Pakistan cricket clash has always been the showstopper, be it in any tournament across the world. The Nagoya Asian Games is also expected to be another competition where these two cricketing nations will once again be involved, but unlike other major competitions, as it stands.

When Will India And Pakistan Face Each Other In Asian Games?

India will definitely start as one of the favourites as the reigning Asian champions, and all eyes will be on the India vs Pakistan clash. But as per Cricbuzz, the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash won't take place in the early stages of the Asian Games. As per the report, the top two seeded sides will not meet in the quarters or the semis, and only a gold medal match or a bronze medal playoff match is possible as per the draw. The women's cricket also has the same path and will follow the same draw pattern.

Asian Games Cricket Draw And Schedule

The men's event will have 10 participating teams, while the women's event will witness 8 teams. Cricket will be held from September 17 to October 3 in Nagoya. In the men's event, India have been placed directly in the quarterfinals alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. While the other 6 teams, including the likes of Afghanistan, will have to navigate the group stage. Nepal, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Oman are the other teams that will be fighting for a place in the knockouts.

Both the gold medal and bronze medal playoff matches are scheduled to be held on October 3, while the semifinals will be held on October 1.

The winners of quarterfinal 1 will meet the winners of quarterfinal 3 and the remaining two teams will meet each other. For the women, India remains the top seed, and they will face Japan in the quarters following a matchup against Bangladesh or Hong Kong. The women's gold medal match and bronze medal playoff will be held on September 22.

All the matches will be held at the Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya in the T20 format.
