Standard Chartered ropes in new heads for regional businesses
Gandhi has led robust growth of the bank's private banking business in Singapore over the past two years.

British multinational bank, Standard Chartered, has announced key appointments to its regional business leadership. Vinay Gandhi has been appointed as the Global Head of the South Asian community and Regional Head of Africa, Middle East, and Europe Private Banking, effective from January 1, 2024.
Gandhi has led robust growth of the bank's private banking business in Singapore over the past two years. He will be responsible for an increased mandate with the new role.
Furthermore, Foo Tian Ong, a seasoned banker with a track record of working with UBS, will join Standard Chartered in December. Ong will take on the position of Regional Head of Southeast Asia and Singapore Head for the private banking division.
His prior experience at UBS included responsibilities for markets in Thailand, the Philippines, India, and Vietnam, according to the bank's statement.
Founded in 1869 through a merger of two banks, The Chartered Bank of India, Australia, and China, and the Standard Bank of British South Africa, Standard Chartered operates in more than 60 markets worldwide, with a focus on emerging markets in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
The bank offers a wide range of financial services, including personal banking, corporate and institutional banking, private banking, and wealth management. It provides services to individual customers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large corporations.
